16:50 — Real Madrid agree Valdepeñas exit to Fiorentina

Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sell academy defender Víctor Valdepeñas to Fiorentina in an €8m deal, with the two clubs already exchanging documents to get the move finalised, Fiorentina having beaten out AC Milan for the 19-year-old.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Valdepeñas will sign a contract in Florence running to June 2031. Marca has separately reported the same €8m fee, with Real Madrid inserting a 50 percent sell-on clause and a buyback option — the standard structure the club builds into most academy exits.

It is the latest La Fábrica departure of the summer, following Nico Paz, Álvaro Rodríguez and Mario Gila, as Jose Mourinho continues to lean on academy sales to help fund his midfield and defensive rebuild.

12:00 — Man Utd Have Discussed Camavinga As Midfield Option — But Player Wants To Stay

Manchester United have internally discussed a move for Eduardo Camavinga as a potential third midfield addition this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano, with the France international viewed as an alternative to Roma’s Manu Kone should that deal prove difficult for United to complete.

Camavinga, though, is said to have no intention of leaving the Bernabéu this summer — the latest twist in a saga that has run since Real Madrid began weighing a sale to help fund a move for Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise. Those close to the midfielder say he wants to fight for his place under Jose Mourinho rather than push through an exit.

Real Madrid have made no contact with United over the player, and with Bayern publicly refusing to sell Olise, there is no obvious financial trigger for Los Blancos to revisit a Camavinga departure right now. Full story: Manchester United Discuss Real Madrid Move For Eduardo Camavinga

07:00 — Wednesday State Of Play: Where Every Real Madrid Saga Stands

Real Madrid’s summer keeps moving on several fronts. Thibaut Courtois has signed a new deal through 2027 and Aurelien Tchouameni’s renewal is already wrapped up, with a third extension — for Vinicius Junior — pencilled in for late July after AS reported talks are being lined up for when the board and player’s camp sit down.

In midfield, Eduardo Camavinga continues to dig in over any move away, Real Madrid have made contact over free agent Marcelo Brozovic, and a Rodri approach has been rebuffed. Jose Mourinho has repeated that a new centre-back and a creative midfielder remain his priority, with Riccardo Calafiori and Ruben Dias among the defensive options being weighed, according to Sky Sports.

Michael Olise has been ruled out as a summer addition after Bayern Munich told him he is going nowhere, while Nico Paz’s buy-back detail with Como still rumbles on. Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo remain on individual recovery programmes at Valdebebas. Full round-up in today’s talking points.

00:15 — Mbappe, Tchouameni And Konate’s World Cup Over As Mourinho Gets Early Boost

Real Madrid’s transfer business rolled on through Tuesday, but the night’s biggest impact on Jose Mourinho’s pre-season came from Dallas. Spain beat France 2-0 in the World Cup semi-final, Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro scoring, ending the tournament for Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni, who both started, and Ibrahima Konate, an unused substitute.

All three are now projected to report back to Valdebebas around 5 August, roughly a week earlier than the club had been planning for. Summer signing Marc Cucurella, who started for Spain, presses on to Sunday’s final and a later return date nearer 10 August.

Full detail on what the early arrivals mean for Mourinho’s rebuilt spine is in our World Cup exit analysis and today’s talking points round-up.

23:15 — Bayern Munich Stand Firm: Olise Not For Sale This Summer

A blow for one of Real Madrid’s long-standing attacking targets: Bild’s Christian Falk reports that Bayern Munich have made clear to Michael Olise there is no scenario in which he leaves this summer, with the two clubs having agreed not to open negotiations during this window.

Olise had been floated as a possible marquee signing funded in part by any Camavinga sale, but for now Real Madrid’s board are being told to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.

22:48 — Real Madrid Make Contact Over Free Agent Brozovic As Rodri Bid Snubbed

Real Madrid have added a new name to their central midfield thinking, with Sacha Tavolieri reporting the club have contacted representatives for Marcelo Brozovic, who left Al-Nassr as a free agent last month.

Elsewhere, Rodri is understood to have offered himself to Madrid, but according to The Athletic’s Ruben Martin the club have not included the Manchester City midfielder among their five main midfield targets, citing fitness concerns. Former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, fresh off Brazil’s World Cup campaign, has also made his interest known, telling El Chiringuito he would relish a Bernabeu move if the opportunity arose.

22:16 — Militao, Mendy And Rodrygo Continue Individual Recovery Programmes

Real Madrid ran a double training session on the second day of pre-season at Valdebebas on Tuesday, with Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo again working apart from the group as they continue their individual recovery programmes.

Jose Mourinho’s available group remains light while several first-team players are still away at the World Cup, but the club say the trio’s recovery work is progressing on schedule.

21:08 — Sky Sports: Mourinho weighing up Calafiori and Dias as defensive cover options

Real Madrid’s search for defensive reinforcements is not limited to Alessandro Bastoni, according to Sky Sports’ transfer centre. Mourinho is said to be considering Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie, plus Manchester City’s Ruben Dias, as he looks to add physicality to a defence that struggled with injuries last season.

None of the three are reported to be at an advanced stage, and Madrid’s own sporting department has made clear that fresh arrivals hinge on trimming the squad first, so this remains speculative business rather than anything close to here-we-go territory.

18:12 — Mourinho tells Real Madrid board: centre-back and creative midfielder still the priority

Jose Mourinho has reinforced to Real Madrid’s board that a new centre-back and a creative midfielder remain his two most urgent priorities before the window shuts, with the message delivered on the eve of his first pre-season session at Valdebebas. Mundo Deportivo report that Mourinho is happy with the business done so far this summer – Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva and Denzel Dumfries have all arrived – but still views midfield and central defence as unfinished work, with the sporting department stressing that further incomings depend on departures first.

Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez remains Mourinho’s preferred midfield option according to Marca, though The Athletic values that deal as difficult given Chelsea’s roughly £120million valuation, with Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes kept as alternatives. At the back, Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni is valued by Marca at around €70million, while Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck has reportedly fallen out of contention after The Athletic said an injury will keep him out until late August.

Vinicius Junior is set to sit down with the Real Madrid board later this month to continue negotiations over a new contract, according to AS. The Brazilian rejected the club’s last offer and is holding out for a significant salary rise, though sources inside the club are reportedly optimistic a deal can still be reached before his 2027 expiry becomes a bigger issue.

12:30 — Courtois Signs New Real Madrid Deal Through 2027

Real Madrid have tied down Thibaut Courtois to a new one-year contract extension, keeping the Belgian goalkeeper at the club until the summer of 2027. According to Marca, his previous deal had been due to expire in June 2026, with terms finalised as pre-season training got under way at Valdebebas.

Fabrizio Romano’s report that Aurelien Tchouameni’s renewal is wrapped up still stands as the only fully resolved thread among the club’s several ongoing sagas.

Jose Mourinho led his first training session as Real Madrid head coach at Valdebebas on Monday, with Eduardo Camavinga, Franco Mastantuono, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen among those present. Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Thibaut Courtois remain away on World Cup duty and will return on a staggered basis.

With numbers thin this early in the window, Football Espana reports Mourinho leaned on Real Madrid Castilla players to fill out the session — a reminder of the defensive search that has already produced the club’s enquiry for Piero Hincapie, even as Camavinga’s own future is weighed up to help fund a move for Michael Olise.

Vinicius is said to be pushing for wages closer to Kylian Mbappe’s, plus a renewal bonus, with a board meeting to thrash out terms pencilled in for late July.

11:45 — Romano: Tchouameni Renewal Wrapped Up, Real Madrid Working On A Third Deal

According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have tied up a new contract for Aurelien Tchouameni that will run to 2031, with the France midfielder viewed as a long-term dressing-room fixture under Mourinho.

Romano adds that the club are now working on a further first-team renewal beyond Tchouameni and Vinicius Junior, though the identity of that player has not yet been disclosed.
