Manchester United have held internal discussions over a move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, though the France international has no intention of leaving the Bernabéu this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, United’s recruitment staff have discussed Camavinga as a potential third midfield addition under Michael Carrick, alongside contact already made for Roma’s Manu Kone. Sky Sports reports Camavinga sits on a growing United shortlist that also includes Real Madrid teammate Aurelien Tchouameni and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, with reports in Spain and England placing his valuation anywhere between £43m and £52m.
Camavinga Digs In Despite Manchester United Interest
Real Madrid are understood to be open to a sale if the right offer arrives, but the move hinges entirely on Camavinga himself. “Camavinga, from what I am told, wants to continue at Real Madrid, wants to fight for his place,” Romano said, with the 23-year-old determined to force his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans for the new season after missing out on France’s World Cup squad through a lack of regular starts.
Camavinga joined Real Madrid from Rennes for €31m in 2021 and has had to compete for minutes in a midfield that has had its own well-documented tensions between Tchouameni and Fede Valverde this year. With Bernardo Silva already arriving to reinforce the middle of the park, competition for places is only set to intensify — leaving Camavinga’s stance, rather than United’s interest, as the real obstacle to any deal.
