Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement to sell academy defender Víctor Valdepeñas to Fiorentina in an €8 million deal, with the two clubs already exchanging documents to finalise the move.
According to a fresh update from Fabrizio Romano, Fiorentina have beaten competition from AC Milan to land the 19-year-old, who will sign a contract in Florence running until June 2031. Marca has separately reported the same fee, with Real Madrid retaining a 50 percent sell-on clause and a future buyback option, a standard safeguard the club builds into most academy exits.

The Valdepeñas fee is modest by Real Madrid’s usual standards, but it fits a pattern this summer: the club has already moved on academy products from its La Fábrica production line, including Nico Paz, Álvaro Rodríguez and Mario Gila, as it looks to balance the books while Jose Mourinho pushes the board for fresh additions to his midfield and defence.
Valdepeñas made his first-team debut in December, deputising at left-back for an injured Ferland Mendy and a suspended Álvaro Carreras in a 2-1 league win over Deportivo Alavés. It was a rare senior chance in a season otherwise spent with Real Madrid Castilla, and it was enough to convince Fiorentina to move quickly once his availability became clear.
With the transfer window still open, Real Madrid’s academy graduates remain a reliable source of funds for a squad rebuild that Mourinho has made no secret of wanting to accelerate before pre-season concludes.
