Eder Militao made a dream comeback of sorts to Real Madrid action on Saturday.

The Brazilian appeared on an official squad list for the first time since December, after tearing the hamstring in his left leg towards the end of 2025.

It’d been expected that he’d enter the action at some point against Mallorca in Son Moix, though it was surprising that Madrid fell 1-0 behind on the stroke of half time through a Manu Morlanes strike.

Once more, Dean Huijsen and Antonio Rudiger were Alvarao Arbeloa’s central defensive partnership, but that was broken up when the Dutchman came off on exactly 60 minutes.

Militao made an instant impact for Madrid

Less than half an hour later, Militao looked to have saved a point when he pulled off a stunning header from around the penalty spot to tie the match 1-1.

It must have felt like a milestone moment for the 28-year-old, after all his troubles over the past few seasons which includes ACL tears in 2023 and 2024.

In quick succession, however, full backs Trent-Alexander Arnold and Alvaro Carreras being way out of position on a Mallorca break allowed Vedat Muriqi to find space and smash the winner past Andriy Lunin.

The hosts held on for a heroic 2-1 win, and if FC Barcelona can get past Atletico Madrid, the gap at the top could be as wide as seven points before the weekend is through.

Militao’s cameo was one of few positives

Still even though his team didn’t get the win, Militao showed what Madrid have been missing in his absence.

Beside his goal, he was the highest-rated player on a lacklustre team with a 7.2 rating from Whoscored? while also getting 95% of his passes right and making one important tackle.

It is those qualities that should see him regain his place in the starting XI, though that might not be as soon as next week’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Bayern Munich in the Bernabeu on Tuesday evening.
