Bellingham Training Absence Explained as No.5 Stays in London

The mystery over the Bellingham training absence at Real Madrid has a simple explanation. Jude Bellingham missed Monday’s session at Valdebebas, the only member of José Mourinho’s squad yet to rejoin pre-season, but reports in Spain confirm there is no injury involved – the England midfielder was in London fulfilling a commercial commitment.

Bellingham was granted leave until Wednesday but is expected to cut the trip short and rejoin the group for Tuesday’s session at Valdebebas. His absence stood out because Kylian Mbappé, Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté and Aurélien Tchouaméni – the last of the World Cup contingent – all returned to training on Monday, leaving the No.5 as the final man out.

No injury behind Bellingham training absence

Spanish journalist Arancha Rodríguez, via Defensa Central, cleared up the situation and stressed there is nothing physical to worry about ahead of a busy week at Valdebebas.

“Bellingham had a shoot in London today. He has leave until Wednesday. I understand he’ll be returning early and will train with the rest of the team tomorrow.”

The timing matters with Real Madrid facing Deportivo La Coruña in the Teresa Herrera Trophy on Wednesday, the club’s final pre-season outing before their LaLiga campaign begins on 22 August. Bellingham’s early return should give Mourinho his full group with days to spare.
