Kylian Mbappe‘s entourage has responded to criticism levelled at the Frenchman for his conduct over the past week.
“Part of the criticism is based on an excessive interpretation of elements related to a recovery period strictly managed by the club, without reflecting the reality of Kylian’s daily involvement and his work for the team,” a statement carried by MARCA read.
Furthermore, The Athletic reports that Mbappe has been involved in a training ground bust-up with a member of Alvaro Arbeloa’s staff.
Mbappe has come under fire from the club, his teammates and fans alike. On April 24th, he asked to be substituted towards the end of an eventual 1-1 draw with Real Betis.
The 28-year-old left the fray with Los Blancos leading. Yet by the time the full whistle blew, Hector Bellerin had equalised to throw hopes of stopping FC Barcelona from winning La Liga into disarray.
Mbappe was later diagnosed with a hamstring overload. Rather than being present for the 2-0 win over Espanyol that prevented a guard of honour for Barca, however, he instead decided to travel to Paris with his girlfriend.
This trip as well as one to Sardinia reportedly didn’t go down well with Real Madrid and its players. Mbappe has since returned to Valdebebas. Yet his entourage has felt the need to play down a furore surrounding the World Cup winner.
Kylian Mbappe has allegedly been involved in a training ground bust up with Real Madrid staff
According to The Athletic, there are tensions on the training ground ahead of the Clasico on May 10. Mbappe allegedly got involved in a heated argument with a member of Alvaro Arbeloa‘s staff.. This came after being ruled offside in a practice match.
This hasn’t gone down well with people around the club. That group includes staff members and agents of other players, who have criticized Mbappe. Real Madrid have been blasted too, for not taking a firmer stance with the number 9.
If one thing is clear, it’s that things are reaching a head with Mbappe. And while it’s probably obvious he won’t be moved on for this, Florentino Perez and the next manager need to get the house in order post haste.
