  • Kylian Mbappe is currently out injured.
  • Instead of heading to Barcelona to show support to Real Madrid in their must-win La Liga match against Espanyol, the Frenchman travelled to Paris with his girlfriend.
  • This has reportedly angered his club, teammate and Los Blancos fans.

Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has landed himself in hot water with the club, his teammates and his fans for how he’s handled his latest injury.

The Frenchman suffered an overload to his left hamstring during the 1-1 draw with Real Betis 10 days ago. Rather than staying at Valdebebas to recover while Los Blancos fight to keep FC Barcelona from winning the La Liga title, however, Mbappe has taken ill advised trips to Paris and Italy.

On Sunday, Mbappe should’ve headed the RCDE Stadium with the rest of the squad to show support. He didn’t see the 2-0 win over Espanyol in person, however. Instead, he was spotted in the French capital with his partner Ester Exposito.

According to numerous sources in Spain, this hasn’t gone down well at all. The club, the locker room, and Madrid fans are all far from impressed with the number 9.

Mbappe needs to win Real Madrid fans over again

For Madridistas, there’s a feeling that Mbappe has already finished his season. He’s thinking more about the World Cup as opposed to Real Madrid, who still have four games to play in La Liga.

Madrid had been fighting not to give Barca a guard of honour as champions by beating Espanyol, and Mbappe being nonchalant to this has put distance between him and the locker room according to AS.

Mbappe’s goalscoring figures of 85 games in 100 appearances are those of a 28-year-old player at his peak. Yet individual honours such as the Golden Boot mean nothing if a club of such prestige is going back-to-back seasons without major silverware.

It is only by putting this right in 2026/2027 that Mbappe can get the Los Blancos faithful back onside and fulfil the promise he brought after completing a high-profile free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain two summers ago.
