Vinícius Júnior is back. José Mourinho has named his Real Madrid squad for Saturday’s pre-season friendly against Ferencvaros in Budapest, and the Brazilian — fresh from signing a new deal to 2032 — is included after rejoining training this week. It sets up his likely first appearance under the new head coach.
The trip to Hungary is Real Madrid’s fourth pre-season outing, following games against Alcorcón, Leganés and Fiorentina. Brahim Díaz, who also returned to training in recent days, makes the flight, as do new signings Bernardo Silva and Carlos Espí. Defenders Antonio Rüdiger and Dean Huijsen come back into the group after sitting out the previous match, though Raúl Asencio remains unavailable.
No Diomande in the Ferencvaros squad
The most notable absentee is Yan Diomande. As Madrid Universal reported, the club-record winger’s move was only confirmed on Thursday and, having not yet trained with his new teammates, he misses out on the Budapest trip. Endrick, who is being linked with a loan away from the club, is included, along with a clutch of academy names such as Sergio Mestre, Javi Navarro and Lamini Fati.
All eyes, though, will be on Vinícius. After a summer of speculation and a fresh commitment to the Bernabéu, the forward’s return to the pitch is the headline Madridistas wanted. Kick-off in Budapest is on Saturday.
