- Eder Militao injured the hamstring in his left leg in the midweek 2-1 win over Alaves.

- With Militao set for surgery according to COPE, he’ll also have to skip the World Cup with Brazil.
In further bad news for the Real Madrid defender, Eder Militao now looks likely to miss out on the World Cup according to COPE.
Militao had only just returned to action from a December injury, and put together impressive performances despite Madrid’s Champions League quarterfinal exit to Bayern Munich and general La Liga decline.
In Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to Alaves, however, the 28-year-old that suffered ACL tears in 2023 and 2024 picked up a hamstring injury in his left leg.
So too did Arda Guler in his right leg, with the pair ruled out for the rest of the 2025/2026 season which looks set to end without major silverware for Madrid for the second term running.
Yet Miltao was already feared to have his World Cup with Brazil in jeopardy, and according to COPE, everything indicates he’ll miss the tournament in the United States this summer.
Militao is heading to the operating table
A specific factor in Militao’s absence for Brazil is the fact that a scar from one of his previous injuries has opened and will probably require surgery.
If Militao has to go under the knife, he’ll not board the plane for the United States to link up with old Bernabeu boss Carlo Ancelotti, who now oversees the Brazil national team. At least not as a member of the five-time winners’ squad.
That’d be a heavy blow for a player that on his day is undoubtedly one of the best centre backs in the world. Yet he’s one that struggles to stay fit, and the right side of the luck a professional needs to put together extended runs of form and availability.
