Mastantuono Loan to Fiorentina Nears Completion

Franco Mastantuono is on the brink of a season in Serie A, with the Mastantuono loan to Fiorentina all but rubber-stamped after the Real Madrid prodigy touched down in Italy. According to Madrid Universal, the Argentine landed in Florence on Thursday night to a hero’s welcome, with hundreds of Viola supporters gathering at the airport to greet one of the club’s most eagerly awaited additions of the summer.

What the Mastantuono loan means for Real Madrid

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder endured a stop-start debut season at the Santiago Bernabéu after arriving from River Plate last summer, hampered by injuries and a lack of regular minutes. The temporary move is aimed squarely at his development: the agreement runs until the middle of 2027 and, crucially, contains no purchase option, meaning Los Blancos retain full control of a teenager they still regard as a future star. Mastantuono had already been left out of Real Madrid’s pre-season friendly against Fiorentina, a decision that all but confirmed his imminent departure.

The plan is straightforward. José Mourinho wants the youngster tested against some of Europe’s most organised defences before he returns to fight for a place in the first team. Transfer reporter Gianluca Di Marzio was among those to confirm the Argentine’s arrival in Florence, with the Serie A side moving quickly to get the deal over the line.

Next comes a medical, after which Mastantuono will sign his contract and be unveiled as a Fiorentina player. For Real Madrid, the message is clear — regular football now, a first-team push under Mourinho later — and it is a theme worth tracking across the rest of the summer transfer window.
