Lunin Juventus Loan Talks Open but Real Madrid Stand Firm
Juventus have opened talks with Real Madrid over a surprise loan move for Andriy Lunin, according to Defensa Central — though the Lunin Juventus story may be finished before it properly starts, with Los Blancos reported to have no intention of letting their goalkeeper go anywhere this summer.
The report, relayed by Madrid Universal, states that Juventus see the 27-year-old as an alternative in their goalkeeper search. Parma’s Zion Suzuki is the Italians’ preferred target, but with Paris Saint-Germain also circling the Japanese international, Turin has begun weighing up back-up options — and Lunin’s name has been put forward as a possible loan. No financial terms are known, and it is unclear whether Madrid would even open the door to discussions.
Where the Lunin Juventus talks stand
Everything suggests they will go nowhere. Real Madrid renewed Lunin’s contract until 2030 only two summers ago, and his importance has only grown since young goalkeeper Fran González joined Sevilla in a deal reported to be worth around €3m for 50 per cent of his rights. With Thibaut Courtois only recently back at Valdebebas, Lunin carried much of pre-season — and supplied the assist for Brahim Díaz’s winner in Wednesday’s Teresa Herrera triumph.
“I feel very good, because I’ve been working well,” Lunin said after that match, via Bernabéu Digital. “A new coach, new feelings. I hope we have a good year.”
The window runs until 31 August, so Juventus may yet return — but unless Suzuki’s situation changes dramatically, every signal from the Bernabéu is that the Ukrainian stays put.
