Real Madrid-owned attacker Endrick is set to return to the club this summer according to AS.
Arriving at the Bernabeu in the summer of 2024 as part of a high-profile €60 million transfer from Palmeiras, the teenager struggled for playing time under Carlo Ancelotti and his successor Xabi Alonso in Kylian Mbappe’s shadow.
That pushed the prodigy to seek pastures new. Meanwhile, now Brazil boss Ancelotti also advised him to earn minutes should he wish to make the 2026 World Cup squad.
Though some believe he went to Madrid too early, Endrick’s temporary move to Lyon has proven a masterstroke.
In France, the 19-year-old has racked up 14 goal contributions (with an even split across goals and assists). Perhaps most importantly, he also has close to 1,400 minutes in the elite under his belt too.
The player’s father Douglas Santos didn’t help matters by telling ESPN Brasil that Madrid took away his son’s “theme park”, while Endrick has also been tight-lipped on his future.
According to AS, though, that lies at the Bernabeu where there is “total confidence” in him.
Real Madrid tell Endrick their plans for him
The Spanish newspaper explains that Endrick will return to Madrid. His camp has already been told this, and that no more loans or a permanent exit will be considered.
This has reportedly delighted the player. Endrick now feels stronger, and more confidence to succeed at the Bernabeu.
The bet Madrid have on Endrick is “definitive”. The club want him to have more prominence, which had previously been lacking.
That’ll be hard in Mbappe’s shadow, but at a time when Gonzalo Garcia is being linked with a possible move to Borussia Dortmund, there might be less competition.
Furthermore, Endrick is also an option for the right wing which nobody has really been able to nail down. Rodrygo is out for the rest of the season, while Franco Mastantuono is struggling to kick on since his own move from River Plate.
You can sometimes find Arda Guler there, but he’s proving adept more centrally as one of the main revelations of what looks set to be a trophyless 2025/2026.
Above all, though, next season could be Endrick’s time to shine in Los Blancos colours.
