Liverpool Open Discussions With Aurélien Tchouaméni Representatives
Liverpool are in discussions with the representatives of Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni, according to a report from TEAMtalk. It is an early stage approach. The update reignites the Aurélien Tchouaméni Liverpool transfer story that first took shape in the summer of 2022, when the France international nearly moved to Anfield before choosing Madrid instead.
Graeme Bailey of TEAMtalk reports that Tchouaméni would be willing to leave Real Madrid if he were relegated to a squad player, rather than remaining a first-choice starter. He is not pushing for an exit now. He keeps his place in the side. So far, only his representatives are involved, and there is no sign of direct contact between the two clubs.
TEAMtalk Details Former Target Status and Julian Ward Return
TEAMtalk’s report echoes the Football365 report on Tchouaméni. It places the interest in a familiar context for Liverpool supporters. Tchouaméni was their number one target in the summer of 2022, before Real Madrid won that race and took him to the Bernabéu instead.
Kylian Mbappé’s own decision to reject Liverpool for Madrid added to that pattern in the years since. Liverpool fans know it well by now. Julian Ward has returned to Anfield for a second spell as Liverpool’s sporting director, a boardroom change that comes just as the Tchouaméni links resurface. His return adds a familiar face to Liverpool’s recruitment plans as they assess midfield options.
Jose Mourinho Midfield Setup and Squad Role Dynamics
Tchouaméni’s stance matters because of where he currently sits in the Real Madrid midfield. He remains a first-choice starter. Bailey’s report frames any Anfield move as conditional, not close, and there is no sign he wants out while he keeps a regular role among Los Blancos’ midfield options.
Competition for places in the middle of the pitch remains fierce at the Bernabéu. A shift down the pecking order would change Tchouaméni’s own thinking quickly. TEAMtalk’s report describes an approach rather than an agreement, and there is no indication that Real Madrid intend to change his role at the club.
Real Madrid Fixture Schedule and Midfield Rotation Ahead
This is not the only transfer plot linking the two clubs this season. Recent reporting has also explored a possible transfer overlap with Liverpool over a goalkeeping target. For now, the Aurélien Tchouaméni Liverpool transfer talk remains at an early stage.
TEAMtalk stresses that discussions are underway rather than any deal being close. Real Madrid have given no public indication that Tchouaméni is available. Rotation in midfield will continue as normal for Los Blancos, with his place in the side unaffected for now.
