Vinicius Junior ready for Madrid talks: Contract extension negotiations set for late July

Real Madrid and Vinicius Junior will enter decisive contract negotiations in late July, with both parties expressing optimism about reaching a mutually satisfactory agreement, according to reports from Spanish media.

The Brazilian winger is pushing for a significant salary increase to match the terms offered to fellow superstar Kylian Mbappé. Vinicius currently earns substantially less than the French forward, who commands approximately €30 million per year at the Bernabéu.

Vinicius has rejected Madrid’s previous offer and is demanding a renewal that places him among the club’s top earners. Club sources, however, remain confident that a deal will be reached, with the administration viewing the impending talks as a routine extension rather than an existential negotiation.

The 26-year-old has emerged as a cornerstone of Carlo Ancelotti’s project and his continued presence is non-negotiable for the club’s ambitions. While the salary demands represent the primary sticking point, both the player and the board are believed to be working toward common ground.

Failing to agree by January 1st would see Vinicius become a free agent, allowing him to negotiate with other clubs. However, Madrid sources have consistently downplayed that scenario, suggesting that a new deal is simply a matter of when, not if.
