Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Ibrahima Konaté, with the France centre-back agreeing a four-year contract at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The club announced on Thursday, June 18, that Konaté has reached an agreement to become a Real Madrid player until June 30, 2030, according to Real Madrid’s official announcement.
It is a major defensive move for José Mourinho’s side as Madrid continue to reshape the squad before the 2026/27 campaign. Konaté arrives with Premier League, Champions League and France experience, and gives Madrid another powerful option in central defence.
Konaté Deal Gives Madrid Another Elite Centre-Back Option
Konaté’s arrival matters because Real Madrid have moved early for a defender who can immediately raise the level of competition at the back. The 27-year-old has been used to playing in high-line systems, defending large spaces and handling elite forwards in England and Europe.
For Madrid, the timing is also significant. Mourinho is due to begin pre-season work on July 13, giving Konaté a clear runway to settle before the serious competitive fixtures return.
The contract length underlines the scale of the commitment. A deal through 2030 positions Konaté as more than a short-term reinforcement, with Madrid securing a centre-back for what should still be his peak years.
The next focus will be his presentation, squad number and how quickly Mourinho integrates him into the defensive hierarchy at Valdebebas.
