At a glance

  • Despite being on the verge of their second trophyless season together, Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe won’t be broken up at Real Madrid.
  • The Brazilian and Frenchmen will be the protagonists of the club’s next sporting project.
  • Vinicius’ contract expires in mid-2027, however, and he must renew his terms for this to become a reality.

Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe will be the main stars of Real Madrid’s sporting project in 2026/2027 according to AS.

The pair are about to finish a second consecutive trophyless season together. But still Florentino Perez believes in the potential of the pair. They’re seen as the leaders to reach the club’s previous heights in the 21st century.

Crestfallen following Wednesday’s 4-3 loss and 6-4 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals, the talented duo are motivated to make things right at the Bernabeu.

Vinicius’ publicly-admitted dispute with fired hired coach Xabi Alonso and Mbappe’s knee issues haven’t helped.

But with either Alvaro Arbeloa enjoying a fresh campaign from the start of a successor coming in, a new season sees Madrid hit reset.

Vinicius signing a new Real Madrid contract is a formality

With his terms expiring in mid-2027, Vinicius is expected to commit the rest of his career peak to Real Madrid. Both the player and the club are waiting for the right moment to announce his extension. And that certainly isn’t any time soon given current on-pitch problems.

As for Mbappe, he knows that he was brought to the Spanish capital for silverware, not individual records. Yet still there are no doubts around his Los Blancos future and he feels indebted to Madridistas he must pay back.

It’s clear that Madrid need a revamp ahead of a new roll of the dice. Yet the Brazilian and Frenchman will remain familiar faces in Valdebebas.
