Kylian Mbappe Brace Sends France Into World Cup Knockouts Against Iraq

Kylian Mbappe scored twice as France beat Iraq 3-0 in Philadelphia to secure their place in the 2026 World Cup knockout stage. The Real Madrid forward reached 100 appearances for France, was named player of the match and moved to four goals for the tournament with a second straight brace.

Real Madrid confirmed Mbappe’s double in their match report, noting that France qualified for the last 16 after the Group I victory and that their forward again led Didier Deschamps’ attack. Ousmane Dembele added the third goal for France after Mbappe had already given the favourites control, according to a fresh update from Real Madrid’s official website.

Mbappe Gives Madrid Another World Cup Statement

The detail that matters most for Madrid supporters is not just the scoreline. It is the rhythm of Mbappe’s tournament. He scored twice against Senegal in France’s opener and has now repeated the trick against Iraq, meaning he has four goals before the knockout phase has even begun.

For Real Madrid, that is a powerful summer signal. Mbappe is carrying the authority of a captain and centrepiece for France, but he is also sharpening the same decisive edge Madrid will need when the domestic season returns. A 100th France cap, a brace and a last-16 place make this one of his clearest statements of the tournament so far.
